Boston Pétanque Club
"Le Mistral"
______________________

The current Boston Pétanque Club evolved from Le Mistral Club, originally started in the Worcester area by a group of french-emigrées back in the 1950s. Some of us were fortunate enough to play with and learn from these grand masters.

This web site is part informative, part historical, and chronicles the latter phases of the era of the original Le Mistral Club. Please look through the site and enjoy.  To find out where and when Boston Pétanque Club is now playing, bookmark our pages on:

We always welcome guests and have extra boules on hand if you need them.

By the way, you likely know this already:
Boules de Pétanque
is a French sport which traces its roots to bowling games played centuries ago in Roman times.  Similar to Italian bocce or British lawn bowling, pétanque is played with metallic balls on dirt surfaces in village squares throughout France, especially in le Sud.  An enjoyable sport with universal appeal, pétanque has become yet another of France's pleasurable exports and has attained wide popularity throughout the world.
