2003 Northeast Regional Triplette Tournament

Le Mistral Club teams took 2nd & 4th place out of 12 teams.

On Oct. 5, 2003 in Blue Hill, the Maine Boules Club (MBC) hosted the
NorthEast regional triples championship. We had fine weather and a great turnout- 12 teams of
3 players, with 6 teams coming from MBC, 4 away teams and 2 mixed teams.
I don't know if this is telling us something, but the 4 away teams took the top 4
places:
1st place -- $300 & medals

2nd place -- $200 & medals
from Le Mistral Club de Petanque, Massachusetts

It was a great weekend - we had great food and conviviality at Eatons Lobster Pool
on Deer Isle - and a wonderful banquet cooked by Ovenworks. Actually, there was some great playing by Maine
Boules Club teams that was not reflected in the final placement. Marjorie Kernan, Cynthia Stroud &
Bill Lawson won every game in regulation, and ranked 2nd, but unfortunately lost the quarterfinal, Likewise Dwayne, Blue Hill Bill
& Rob, who were ranked 4th after regulation play. Many thanks to Marge Irvine and Penny Boardman for running the
tourney-they did a great job-many thanks also to Marjorie Kernan and Blue Hill Antiques for hosting this 3-ring circus.
