Under a picture-perfect blue sky on a warm, late spring day, eight triplet teams assembled to compete for the annual Le Mistral Club Open Championship. Teams consisted of club regulars, several new players and even one visiting team from the Manhattan-based club, La Boule New Yorkaise (LBNY), who made the drive up in the early morning hours to arrive in time for the 10:00am tournament start.
The sun was strong, so rest and hydration were very important!
At stake was a cash prize purse as well as bragging rights for the club champions.
After many well-played matches, the final results were:
1st Place: Bernie Loraditch, Brian Walsh, Michael Rugo
2nd Place: Rosemary Bogosian, Tony Kapoyan, Mando Bogosion
3rd Place: Levon Bogosion, Judy Yarbrough
An excellent level of petanque, with familiar and new players on hand, and a surprise visit from new friends from LBNY in New York City made for a pleasing day all around.
