N.E. REGIONAL TRIPLET CHAMPIONSHIPS

Green Hill Park, Worcester, MA
09 Sept. 2006

With Indian Summer bringing late summer breezes and temperatures in the high 80s, 24 pétanque players from Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and New York gathered to compete for the FPUSA Northeast Regional Triplet Championships.

After a long day of competition, many of the players met to celebrate at the Shiraz Armenia restaurant in Worcester - an apropos choice given the heritage of Le Mistral Club's founding members.

And fittingly, each attending club placed a team among the Medal Prize winners:

1st Place/Gold Medals: Richard "Ti" Meas, Hans Jepson, Hery Rakotoarivony   [La Boule NewYorkaise (LBNY)]

2nd Place/Silver Medals: Mark Kindschi, Mia Kanazawa, Andre Strong  [Maine Boules Club]

3rd Place/Bronze Medals: Pete Crowley, Brian Walsh, Philippe Riand   [Le Mistral Club de Pétanque, Massachusetts]

Special mention goes to the 4th place finishers who lost a tough match, 13-12, in the all-Le Mistral Club battle for the Bronze: Bob Liberty, Charlie Testa, Paul Dersain.

Meanwhile, the Consolante tournament of the 5 teams that didn't make it through produced some great action and suspense, with the eventual winners coming from Le Mistral Club:   Albert Kallanian, Jean-Pierre Kallanian, Levan Bogosion
