Le Mistral Club's Pete Crowley takes 3rd Place in LBNY Singles Tournament

Oct 22, 2006 - Central Park, New York City

La Boule Newyorkaise (LBNY) hosted its annual club singles tournament in Central Park near Tavern on the Green. There were 20 players who each played 4 qualifying games and then the top 8 went through to the elimination round.  Pete Crowley, sole representative of Le Mistral Club at the Singles pétanque tournament, beat back some very strong competition and took 3rd Place overall !

Pete's draw put him up against some very accomplished LBNY players.  In this not often played Singles format, Pete only selectively applied his formidable shooting skills and adopted instead a mostly pointeur style, and the strategy adjustment paid off handsomely.  Unfortunately, his semi-final game was against the incomparable Hery who hit carreaux at will!

In the 3rd Place match, Pete was trailing badly, 10-5, but regaining his precision pointing he fought back and took two points in the final end to win 13-12.
